First time installation of a real-time Linux flavour can be quite a challenge epecially for those unfamiliar with Linux. Partitioning a hard with a pre-installed OS and the possible risk of data loss will even scare some away in the firstplace! Furthermore, the cryptic looking commands, instructions \& technical language required for the usage of a real-time Linux variant and its corresponding prototyping target can put off staff and students of the control lab. This first version of the `STRTL Live CDŽ offers a quick-and-dirty, plug-and-play type solution to this problem.
